Happy Monday Friends!

Hopefully you all had an amazing weekend and Monday was kind to you!

It was pretty chilly here the weekend!  We had freeze warnings and all those summer plants that were still hanging on were goners.  Time to break down and break out that feather duvet!

Yesterday I finished another Halloween décor project – a Mummy pillow.  I have had this one in my mental to do list since I saw it at Pottery Barn last year.  They don’t sell it anymore…but I think it was around $30.00.  I did find it on eBay just now though for $50.00!  And might I just add, that’s cray-z!

This is what the Pottery Barn pillow looks like, I found these two photos on their site here:

In a previous Fabulous Frugal Finds Friday post I showed you my haul of Halloween goodies from Dollar Tree.  One of the things I bought was these pumpkin decorations:

As soon as I saw the Mummy one I knew it was perfect for the pillow.

So yesterday I gathered my supplies.  I used the Thankful pillow that I had on hand, because it was white…and for this project my pillow would be decorative and only used for a couple of weeks so there was no major sewing involved.

I had a half a yard of gauzy white fabric on hand and cut it into 1 1/2 inch strips…I just cut the edge and then ripped the fabric so I would have that frayed look.

I took one of the strips of fabric and applied the sticky eyes from my Dollar Tree pumpkin decorating kit:

I only used the eyes.  I’ll save the other pieces and use them for another project next year.

Then I wrapped it around the pillow in a pattern that I thought looked like a Mummy:

Now, if you want your Mummy to be all fancy, you could iron the fabric first.

I was going to just pin the fabric to the back…but decided to take a needle and thread and just run a few light stitches down the side of the pillow…I didn’t want to leave a bunch of holes in a good pillow, that’s why I only did a few and on the side.  If you decide to make your pillow permanent you could use fabric glue, or sew your fabric strips on with the sewing machine.

And here he is hanging out with Benny:

He kinda looks afraid!

No wonder, with the skeleton crew around here…

And speaking of Halloween…I received this very thoughtful gift in the mail from my blog friend Benita over at Chasing Quaintness.  Thank you so much Benita, it smells so nice and it’s just so stinkin’ cute!  Thank you again friend, I am so glad that our paths crossed!
